From the Minister – June

Care of the Soul infographic

Summer is fast approaching! Things are finally shifting as we are opening up after what has seemed like endless months apart. The church is opening for groups and we're hoping that we'll be able to open for in-person worship services in the fall.

For many ministers, the summertime is a less active time, where programming slows -- though does not disappear. This at a time where we have been apart for many months and the church is moving back into gathering together for various activities and beginning to feel more alive for many.

I'm grateful for this time to allow us to get used to being together -- and for the opportunity to get used to being with you in-person myself! I know there are many of you I have not yet met and also those who I've spent many hours with by Zoom.

This summer I will be taking some time off and also time away from the congregation, serving our faith. Along with having been invited to be one of the Chaplain Co-Leads for our annual General Assembly this year (June 23-27), I have also been asked to be on the ministry team of the Central East Region's Summer Institute (July 11-16). Those two weeks I will not be attending any meetings but will be available for any pastoral concerns that arise.

I will also be taking some time to rest. We have accomplished so much in our time together, and it's been wonderful. And I am overworking in order to try to manage. Some rest time will allow me a chance, hopefully, to recharge and to return to a better balance of what is sustainable.

I'm looking forward to the opportunity to get to know y'all some, and so I am going to be hosting a couple of opportunities to meet: Thursday, June 3 from 12-2 pm and Monday, June 7 from 2-4 pm, both in the social hall. Drop in for a chat if you can -- these will be in-person events only. I will try to find some time to do some more events over the summer as well.
