Welcome back, for those returning!
Welcome in, for those seeking!
Welcome to all!
We are coming near to the end of our time together. Four years of ministry together. You, and we, have accomplished much in this difficult time -- first and foremost, surviving the pandemic, which is no small feat. You demonstrated your hallmark resilience as you pivoted to online-only, and again as we transitioned into multiplatform availability.
The board has grown into a proper board during this time, focusing its work on policies and big picture thinking and planning. Our treasurer and some of our financially-minded congregants have worked to get the congregation into compliance with our business affairs appropriately. A group has emerged that is working on getting the church's financials into better order and engaging the congregation in some kind of fundraising effort.
Worship has improved in quality across the board -- y'all have grown as lay leaders in this area beautifully. Faith formation has been better integrated into the life of the congregation, and much thanks for that is owed to our amazing faith formation educators. It matters to our children and youth and our families.
Social justice has been completely transformed and seems to be serving the congregation more meaningfully and with greater participation. It has been a joy to witness how you've come alive in this area.
You've taken a deep interest in and commitment to our faith as Unitarian Universalists, learning about our history, our polity, our ancestors, as well as the joys and challenges of our faith today. We have also wondered at what we might yet become as a faith and a congregation. You've deepened your practice of covenant, too, which will continue to serve you in the years to come.
There's more, and of course not everything is rainbows and unicorns. There are still areas of congregational life that need some attention -- especially membership and pastoral care.
June's spiritual theme is Renewal. I've been thinking of this as a way for you to renew your relationships with each other and with the congregation as a whole. There will be some initiatives rolling out over the summer and into the fall that will be asking you to commit to the work of making this congregation the best it can be. May your yeses be enthusiastic and many!
In faith and service, Rev. Kristina Spaude (She/her)
