Minister’s Message
April 2025

Hello Beloved Friends,

We know that one of the signs of springtime in our Florida congregations is saying goodbye to our seasonal members and friends who head northward. It’s interesting to me that most of what is written about “snowbirds” is told from the perspective of why Florida is a good place for them. It is a lovely spot for those who crave sunshine and want to leave behind heavy coats and shoveling snow. It’s true that our winters are ideal for beach trips, farmer’s markets, outdoor concerts, and sports.

I think more should be said about the joy they bring to us. What we know in our Tarpon Springs congregation is that these delightful people start showing up in late fall. They share their energy and ideas, their warmth and support. As a new minister, they welcomed me with open hearts and minds. I know I speak for all of us “year-rounders” when I wish our seasonal folks safe and happy travels. We will watch and look forward to your return!
