From the Minister – September 2024

Minister Message

Pastor Patti HanksWelcome back, for those returning!
Welcome in, for those seeking!
Welcome to all!

As of this writing, I’ve been the minister at UU Church of Tarpon Springs for four days. I’m so happy to be here! I attended my first Sunday service, which was a lovely welcome from the congregation.

My message this month is a thank you and a promise.

Thank you to the Sunday Worship Team who planned an innovative, engaging way for me (and all of us present and on Zoom) to hear from each other about what brings us to UUCTS, what we bring to UUCTS, what we love to do, and what we yearn for. What I heard repeated in so many ways was how much the community means to you and how important it is to feel that sense of belonging and connection. Several people said simply, “It’s the people.” One person said, “This is where my heart is.”

There were mentions of meaning-making, exploring spirituality, creating a space for learning and questions, coming together for social justice, and working as a community toward true hospitality and inclusion.

My promise is that I will be open minded and open hearted. I will travel with you in this journey and strive to be a minister who listens deeply and helps bring healing and hope to this faith community and in outreach to our neighbors near and far. Our living UU tradition, with love at its center, is so needed in the world.

Blessings,  Pastor Patti

P.S. I also learned that there are opportunities to do some of my favorite things here – pull a few weeds, eat cheesecake, and experience amazing music (Bonnie, wow!)
